Guru (2017) Aditya(Venkatesh) is an aggressive boxing coach who always has problems with the sports federation. After a serious fight with one of the heads in the association, Aditya is transferred to Vizag to scout young women boxers. Left with no choice, Aditya heads to Vizag and spots a local slum girl called Ramudu(Ritika Singh). After seeing her careless attitude and raw fighting spirit, he chooses her as his boxing candidate and starts training her. The twist in the tale arises when the aimless Ramudu starts going against Aditya and his goal. The rest of the story is as to how Aditya molds the local girl and makes her the Indian women’s boxing champion..

On the flipside, this film has nativity issues. Though it’s a Telugu movie, the proceedings in the film doesn’t involve us directly and doesn’t make us relate to the characters. On a whole, Guru is a nice movie if you ignore nativity issues and rela.

All in all, watch "Guru" for Venkatesh's terrific performance and also for the newcomer Ritika. The movie is a good sports drama that we hardly get to see on Telugu screen. It may not go well with mass audiences but it may work for A Center audiences. .

All in all, ‘Guru’ isn’t a methodical commercial movie Telugu audience are addicted to. Kudos to Venkatesh for taking up this challenge, subsiding his heroic image for elevating Ritika Singh’s life. ‘Guru’ is mainly targeted at urban multiplex.
