Prem Pujari's plot revolves around its central character Ramdev Bakshi, who is non-belligerent by nature. War circumstances and his father, a war veteran himself, order him off to the Indo-China border, but soon enough Ramdev finds himself court martialled due to his defiance of using armas and ammunition. However, Ramdev picks his occasion to show his mettle at the Indo-Pak war of 1965, where he bravely guns down the insurgent Pakistani soldiers hiding in the bushes of the villages near the border.
