gali guleiyan (2018)

Khuddoos (Manoj Bajpayee) suffers from voyeurism. Stewart spied on his neighbours using binoculars whereas in keeping with times, Bajpayee uses security cameras which he has installed all over his old Delhi neighborhood. His obsession borders on the extreme. He doesn’t sleep, neglects his livelihood and much rather starve himself then stay off his favourite pastime. Only the ministrations of his childhood friend Ganeshi (Ranvir Shorey), who drops in from time to time with food and supplies keep him borderline fit. His obsession touches new heights when he begins to hear noises which hint about a boy being beaten. Usually, even when he sees a crime being committed, he doesn’t report it to the police but for once in his life, he wants to reach out and help. He starts searching for this kid but keeps losing him in the bylanes. He slips into a downward spiral emotionally and secludes himself further from the society, losing his sanity by the minute...

The film is intercut with the images of the young man’s story. Iddu (Om Singh) shares a troubled relationship with his father Liaqat (Neeraj Kabi), especially after he discovers his father has a lover. He’s extremely close to his mother Saira (Shahana Goswami), who dotes on him and tries to shield him from his father’s beatings as much as she can. Iddu likes nothing more than roaming around the neighborhood, peeping inside homes, knowing everyone’s secrets. One day, after his mother’s miscarriage, he angrily blames his father for the tragedy and things steadily go downhill from there
