Harischandra is the tale of a legendary King by name Harischandra who often called as "Satya Harischandra" for for his truthfulness, honesty and integrity. The Gods decide to test Harischandra and have appointed a sage Vishwamitra for the purpose. Vishwamitra tries myriad ways to get Harishchandra to lie or fallback on a promise, but all his efforts went kaput, for he was not tempted to be dogmatic about what he believed and followed. The heavenly Gods have impressed by the King Harischandra for being a staunch supporter for truth and honesty and blessed him with eternal happiness and thus his story has become perennial.
