Khaali Peeli (2020)On a fateful night, local cabbie Blackie (Ishaan Khattar) stumbles upon this pretty – also mouthy and hot-headed – girl Pooja (Ananya Panday). There are goons involved and apparently there’s this history between them, and Pooja, the runaway, seems to be carrying a ton of cash and jewellery. Why does this ‘Aafat’ (by Blackie’s own admission) fall into his lap after all these years and what’s the mayhem all about?‘Khaali Peeli’ is one eventful ride towards redemption, reconnection and, of course, romance!.
On the whole, KHAALI PEELI rests on a wafer-thin plot and is riddled with a lot of cinematic liberties, thus diluting the impact. Moreover, the decision to release the film on a pay-per-view model, that too at an exorbitant price, might go against the fil.
All said and done, Khaali Peeli is your typical Bollywood popcorn-munching, snack-binging movie. It’s a first one in this zone for a long time, and for that, it should be seen taking a break from the heavy atmosphere around..
And that’s really what this film does, overall. Khaali Peeli knows that it needs to refresh the tropes it is up against, and manages to do so only some of the time in its two-hour duration. As a pandemic time-pass, it serves. Just about..
Khaali Peeli is a soggy affair. The popcorn entertainment it delivers has no crackle. With inanity snuffing out the effervescence Ishaan Khatter and Ananya Panday bring to the concoction, the final reading on the meter is ZER.

In a nutshell, ‘Khaali Peeli’ has slow-mos and a background score that is faster than the heartbeat of an average young adult and on top of everything, a hot pair leading the show! But it derails every once in a while and you wonder – quite empathet.
