Director SS Raju has put 'Adaption' in the credits above his name but the people who watched the original can say that it is almost a frame-to-frame remake. The completely different story is both the movie's advantage and disadvantage. The director did not try to hide the loopholes in the original and failed to narrate 'Ishq' on an interesting note.. The real story starts only after half an hour into the first half. The Interval block is interesting and increases interest and the second half picks up pace. Different climax appeals to few viewers. As true to the Malayalam films, the film talked subtly but powerfully showed male ego, feminism, moral policing, etc and it has to be seen how many takers are there in Tollywood for such bold concepts. To the top of it, people who watched the original, do not find anything new in it. Considering all these above points. (read more...)

Ishq is a faithful remake of the original and it is a thriller set in love backdrop. The film is mainly powered by good performances from the lead pair. But it doesn’t cater to all sections of the audience, given its peculiar plot. The film might make for a passable one-time watch if you keep your expectations in check.. (read more...)

By the end of it all, the songs by Mahati Swara Sagar add nothing to the film and the chemistry between the lead pair is so lacking, it bores you till the film gets into the thick of things. Ishq had the potential to be something more, if only the subject at hand was handled better instead of ending up being nothing but than a case-study on the big, fat, male ego. .. (read more...)
