Zanjeer 2013The official remake of Amitabh Bachchan's 1973 hit Zanjeer. Vijay is a brutally honest police officer who has been transferred yet again by the system for chasing the corrupt underworld goons. He is in charge of a case where the key eye witness, Mala, has seen a murder by Teja's Gang and refuses to co-operate. Teja is the head of an oil mafia operation and doesn't want Ria alive. Vijay manages to convince Ria to give a statement which makes her perpetrators come after her. Of course, the film has a happy Bollywood ending with the triumph of good over evil. In fact, after watching the last scene, it seems as if the makers are hoping to do a sequel to Zanjeer 2.0 – as if the remake wasn’t enough! Priyanka’s fans can enj.
Zanjeer is a well-paced masala remake but a lukewarm debut for Ram Charan which doesn't match up to the intensity of the original film. None of the performances ring true, apart from Sanjay Dutt's strong acting. Skip it..
On the whole, ZANJEER is a triumph for Ram Charan, who gets abundant opportunity to exhibit his talent and scores exceedingly well. However, the film comes across as a regular masala fare that caters to the single screen spectator mainly and also for enth.
