Cheekati Rajyam (2015)
Diwakar(Kamal Haasan) is a secret agent in the narcotics department. He along with his colleague plan a secret deal and get hold of some expensive drugs which are owned by the dreaded Vital Rao(Prakash Raj).
Left with no choice, an upset Vital Rao kidnaps Diwakar’s son and demands him to return back his parcel. Rest of the story is as to how Diwakar frees his son from the evil clutches of Vital Rao and where does Mallika (Trisha) feature in all this set up..

A crime thriller with understated performances and calm proceedings, 'Cheekati Rajyam' could have been better. To say that it must be watched for Kamal's action and his neat screenplay would be like stating the obvious..

On the flipside, a compact screenplay and less runtime (total runtime is almost 2 and half hours) would have made the film more interesting. We have to wait and see how audiences embrace this realistic thriller!.

After a racy first half, there are many scenes in second half dragged beyond the elastic limit and climax was also pulled unnecessarily. Despite all advantages and drawbacks, ‘Cheekati Rajyam’ is a far better movie from Kamal relative to many failure .

As said earlier, the movie has lot going for it like technical values, Kamal Haasan's performance and other actors' honest effort but it doesn't rise above the level of a taut and engaging thriller. Okay movie, on the whole.
Bottomline: Lacks Punch.
