Bajirao Mastani (2015)Bajirao Ballal Peshwa (Ranveer Singh) is an ambitious Maratha warrior who has set his eyes on creating one Hindu nation, the Bharatvarsha and not only has the wit but also the valor to fight for it. We are even told in the story at one point that he has won all the 40 battles that he ever fought.
During the Mughal invasion, Bajirao is away from home planning an attack on Delhi when he meets Mastani (Deepika Padukone) who has traveled to seek his help to save her hometown Bundelkhand which is being held captive by the Mughals. She is the daughter of King Chhatrasal and his Muslim wife. While Mastani’s dedication and her bravery impress Bajirao, he is determined to help her. Soon, in the midst of the battle, the duo fall in love with each other.
Back home, Bajirao’s wife, Kashi (Priyanka Chopra) is eagerly waiting his return, oblivious of the fact that her husband has fallen in love and even accidentally married another woman.
Will Bajirao and Mastani’s inter-religious love breathe in the strong opposition of his Hindu community and family? Will Kashi accept the fact that she has to share her husband with Mastani for the rest of her life?.

Not Deepika, Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra lace this film with their brilliant performances. Watch the film for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s artistic vision and definitely Ranveer’s career-best act.
Despite its failings, Bajirao Mastani is the work of a director who never shies away from going the whole hog.
Even when Bhansali isn't in full flight, he still manages to soar well above the mundane.

On the whole, BAJIRAO MASTANI is a cinematic gem that you just cannot miss. Tremendous performances, deft direction, power-packed screenwriting and dialogue, melodious soundtrack and of course, the lavish mounting -- this film has it all. Strongly recomme.
