Sarbjit (2016) Sarbjit Singh (Randeep Hooda) lives in a village near Punjab with his wife Sukhpreet (Richa Chadha), sister Dalbir Kaur (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) and father. He also has two daughters Poonam Kaur (Ankita Shrivastav) and Swapandeep Kaur. He was a farmer who worked in others farm and earn livelihood. One day he gets arrested by Pakistani army for crossing the border unknowingly. He is tortured in the Pakistani jail to death and convicted as Indian Spy and named as the person behind bomb blasts in Lahore city of Pakistan. He is alleged as Manjit Singh in Pakistan who is the main culprit behind the blasts.Sarbjit’s sister Dalbir fought with the Pakistani Government for nearly 23 years before Sarbjit being declared as innocent. Sarbjit’s case is fought by Awais Sheikh (Darshan Kumaar). He with the help of Dalbir tries to find a way to prove Sarbjit innocent and catch the real culprit Manjit Kaur. But after Sarbjit being declared innocent given bail, he gets attacked in the jail where he gets badly injured and is hospitalized. On 2nd May, 2013 he took his last breathe..

There is no denying that Randeep & Richa are very skillful actors and are capable of delivering a marvellous performance and, as always, the duo shine in this film too..

The story is sad. The treatment is bad. It is long and loopy and manipulative but it hurts more because it is based on a true story..

Rai Bachchan is making a plea to all to be humane, however some of her voice is drowned as the makers are desperate to make it an edible film for the Bollywood movie fans who like a bit of dance and drama..

With the star not shining all that bright and the actors in the mix not allowed to play the game their way, Sarbjit is a well-meaning outing that fails to do justice to its subject. Watch it only if you are an Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan fan no matter what.

The director's decision to end the film with his own didactic quote than with Kaur's words is unfortunate and denies the real Kaur a platform to speak about her battle or her brother. Instead we get are photos of the man himself and his family which will .

On the whole, SARBJIT is a landmark film with great performances and a superbly told narrative. The entertainment quotient is missing which is compensated by the phenomenal manner in which the story is told. At the box office, it will be appreciated by ma.
