Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017) Vaidehi (Alia’s character) is a fiery lass from Kota, who has been cheated in love and now only has eyes towards her career. Varun in his most endearing role to date, charms as Badrinath Bansal, who assists his father in recovering money from debtors. The rustic Govindaesque Badri falls in love with Vaidehi and woos her with song and dance and more. Some of Hindi cinema’s most memorable scenes by male protagonists have been drunken scenes. Varun in one such heart-broken scene at the beach steals your heart. But my favourite scene in the film is when he buys a ‘kamino’ (kimono) for Vaidehi and straps on her ‘seat-belt’ - the sheer guilelessness of the character is what makes you go awww!.

Jhansi and Kota might not derive any benefits from being at the heart of this flimsy film. But Frankfinn Academy and Singapore's Silk Air stand a good chance. Both entities are given heightened play in Badrinath Ki Dulhania. As for the film itself, it run.

By rendering her character as a picture of refined grace and magnanimity, Alia makes Varun’s turnaround seem emotional not enforced. She is Badrinath’s greatest asset and ability. Both the film and its leading man have the good sense to recognise that.

Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan prove that their pair means a bona fide success. Shashank Khaitan gives you a movie that you can relax with family and friends on an extended Holi weekend. Go watch it especially for Varun Dhawan!.

But Khaitan loses his grip before the high-voltage finale. In the end, he submits to cheesy-funny ‘dialoguebaazi’. That could help him in evoking some whistles, but it dilutes the purpose of featuring an ‘emancipated woman’..

Badrinath… stretches post interval and the much-awaited Tamma Tamma Loge song appears towards the end. The groom-choosing scene didn’t work for me – it was too flighty in a set-up that was real. The film twists towards the end when Badri’s charact.
