Critic Review
Cheliyaa (2017) The movie's story revolves around a fighter pilot Varun (Karthi) and a doctor Leela (Aditi Rao Hydari). They have contrastingly different characters, yet find themselves attracted. The hero appears strong outside, but softer inside, while the heroine is fragile outside, but headstrong inside. The movie has more love and war. The hero is in Pakistan jail and escapes from the jail and the journey of their romance forms the crux of the story, which has a happy ending..

It is a poor film for Maniratnam`s Standards and is a So-so one in general. In the end, Maniratnam and AR Rahman`s Uninspiring Writing and Music prevailed over the Career Best efforts of the Main Leads and Ravi Varman..

First half of the film is nice and second half is slow. Mani Ratnam has projected hero character with flaws. People who except sweet romance between lead pair might get disappointed. It’s a visual poetry by Mani Ratnam. There are only two kinds of react.

Although Karthi and Aditi have given their best and cinematographer Ravi Varman stole the show, the movie comes a cropper. All in all, "Cheliyaa" is totally tedious and boring watch. Bottom-line: Himsaaro!.

'Cheliyaa' is a mixed bag as the movie offers terrific visuals but comes as a complete bore. Beneath the lush visuals, the content is hollow. Relationship between the lead pair seems superficial. Second half has totally gone wrong. Disappointing..

Everything about Cheliyaa is half baked and underdeveloped. It is just an idea made into a film without putting in efforts on the writing table. The result is a painful, boring and torturous romantic drama that will force you to walk away in the middle. .

In totality, ‘Cheliyaa’ is visually and artistically a typical Mani Ratnam film. Content and execution wise, it’s just below average and surely opens with a widely divided talk. Commercial run is also doubtful..
