Padmavat (2018) Set in an era where a certain race, Khilji is trying to overtake Delhi leaving their mark as champions. Alauddin Khilji (Ranveer Singh) – a crazy king goes into a war with full throttle against Rajputs for his one mad wish. The beautiful side of the story has an almost perfect love story of Rani Padmavati (Deepika Padukone) and Rawal Ratan Singh (Shahid Kapoor). A perfect couple living a perfect life until a dark cloud named Alauddin Khilji starts hovering over their life. Revolving around the life of these three people, Padmaavat is the story of love, war and madness. The face-off between these two kings and how they stake everything over one mad wish..

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film is a visual delight and thoroughly entertaining fare, courtesy the epic performance by Ranveer Singh. It talks about Rajput pride and there is nothing that will offend anyone. At least, I couldn’t find anything that can be.

I'm going with 3.5/5 for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmaavat', this film will not go down in history as one of the best Indian films but it could turn out to be the biggest hit of all time, bigger than Dangal and with some luck Padmaavat could challenge Ba.

The makers should know that quality trumps quality when it comes to special effects. The clunky CGI in the film is pretty awful and distracting. The inconsequential 3D and an overly glossy crowd-wowing star spectacle make ‘Padmaavat’ look like pure pr.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's latest offering may be titled Padmaavat but it's Ranveer Singh's show all the way. He plunges deep into the sea of evilness to bring the 'monster' to life for 'ek jung husn ke naam'. It may be a doomed love-story for him in the fil.

Bhansali's last film, Bajirao Mastani, was an undeniably compelling one - here's my review - and while that, too, felt overlong, it was a dramatic film with a heavily plotted storyline that featured many a conflict..

If there’s one thing that keeps us from brooding too much through the film, it is Ranveer Singh. Not once does he try to make us like him, and that makes us like him even more. As a performer, he has always been unpredictable, in a good way. As Bhansali.

On the whole, PADMAAVAT is a remarkable motion picture experience that’s backed by proficient direction, spellbinding screenwriting and superlative acting. For Sanjay Leela Bhansali, it’s the best title on an impressive filmography. A sure-shot winner.

But none of it makes Padmaavat a bad watch- it's actually everything a Bhansali fan would expect and honestly, it does warrant an enriching cinematic experience despite falling short on certain things here and there..

However, the effects in the action/ war scenes don't meet the expectations raised by a film of this scale. Also, the songs don't do much to further the narrative other than providing visual delight. Granted, it could do with a tauter screenplay and shorte.
