Pari (2018) The story unfolds introducing a sweet introvert Arunabh (Parambrata Chatterjee) as he meets his type of girl Piyali (Ritabhari Chakraborty) in an arranged marriage kind of setup. With few interesting turn of events, Arunabh meets Rukhsana (Anushka Sharma) chained in an abandoned house. Yes, she’s supernatural, but is she evil? Prosit (director) maintains this mystery till the end. Enters the devilish twist, Professor Khasim Ali (Rajat Kapoor) playing one the most complicated & intriguing characters written for him. With the entrance of Rukhsana in Arunabh’s life, things start to get complicated between him and Piyali. Rukhsana comes with a dark backstory which Roy decides to unfold bit by bit till the end. Who is a professor, why he is in the search of Rukhsana and many such questions remain unanswered till the crux of the movie arrives?.

Hollywood, please take out the notepad and write down the stuff from Pari on how to make a non-cliched horror film. Surely one of the best in this genre & a must watch for the fans. Producer Anushka Sharma needs a special mention to make this possible..

And then came a passing scene of Rukhsana watching television, and in it was Akshay Kumar professing love to his girl over a fake background of desert and gypsy clothes. I tell you, I was scared out of my wits..

In Sharma’s previous effort, we met cheery ghosts (Phillauri). And now, it is evil spirits. She clearly wants to break out and do something unconventional, but this is not it. How about plain ol’ humans the next time around?.

Pari is different from other Bollywood horror films. Yes. But, we still have a long, long way to go in the genre.

Kapoor as the determined exorcist isn’t an easy man to like, but that’s his victory in such a film. Watch this if you are in the mood for a gore-filled horror film.

Pari appears puzzled as if they don’t know how to end what they started. Anushka Sharma’s film attempts to look different than usual ‘bhoot ki film’, but in the end, finishes right where 1920 Evil Returns or Alone did.

One thing that Pari isn't is predictable. But that isn't good enough. It just isn't the sort of spine-chiller that the pre-release "screamers" would have us believe. It lacks the narrative consistency that its in-your-face methods needed in order to be tr.

If you like horror as a genre, and prefer a genuine theme over sheer succession of scary sequences, you will like this one fascinating as it isn’t bound by the diktats of commercial cinema.
