Kanam (2018) Sai Pallavi and Naga Shourya are a couple who abort their child as they are very young in age and also yet to tie the knot. After being separated for five years, they finally tie the knot. But Sai Pallavi does not forget the trauma she went through and always remembers the fact she would have had a five-year-old daughter by now if she did not get her abortion done. The twist in the tale arises when a small five-year-old spirit called Diya enters their life and turns things upside down. Who is this girl? What does she have to do with the couple? and what happens in course of time. That forms the rest of the story..

Overall, “Kanam” has some moments, interesting story but fails on the narration front. Bottom-line: Dull.

It is quite a joy to watch someone who looks beautifully real and emotes with integrity — the intermission sequence and the climax are examples to show why we need more heroines like Sai Pallavi. The film was promoted with her name and rightly so. But n.

Just don’t go looking for pure horror or something that will entertain or haunt you. If only the director had thought of inserting some suspense in the proceedings, and made it clear where the film stands on the pro-choice and pro-life debate and avoide.

The very idea of a revenge story with a child at its centre is exciting. 'Kanam', however, suffers from avoidable flaws. Director Vijay is light-touch the way he was in 'Abhinetri' ('Devi'). Sai Pallavi's performance is fabulous.

Though ‘Kanam’ deals with a point that is fairly novel in Indian cinema, it suffers from lack of rousing elements and gripping sequences. It is plain thriller cum message oriented movie with hardly any engaging moments..

The film Kanam discusses the issue of abortion, and the movie is dedicated to all those unborn lives. The film appears good and decent in the first half but the second half of the movie is entirely a letdown. The director has introduced the main point of .

All in all, Kanam is a pale film from AL Vijay and team. A mother-daughter emotion that can do wonders as a core conflict is wasted without any deal. Despite hit names of Sai Pallavi, Shaurya in leads, this Kanam is a dead cell.

Though comparisons with Hollywood/ Korean movies of similar plots are obvious, Diya works, with AL Vijay presenting the horror element and the message in a way that can appeal to desi audience and entertains as well. All said Diya is a clean entertainer t.

On the whole, Kanam is an emotional thriller which does not thrill you to a great extent or disappoints you completely. Interesting thrills during the first half and crisp runtime are major assets. But the film falters during the later part as major emoti.
