Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se (2018) YAMLA PAGLA DEEWANA PHIR SE is the story of one man’s fight against a corrupt pharmaceutical company. Puran (Sunny Deol) is an Ayurveda expert who runs his clinic in Amritsar. He uses ancient medicinal knowledge passed on to him by his forefathers. Marfatia (Mohan Kapur), owner of Marfatia Pharma, tempts Puran’s younger brother, the good for nothing Kala (Bobby Deol), that he’ll offer Rs. 1 crore if he can convince Puran to part with the ‘vajrakawacha’ that can cure a host of diseases. Puran refuses the offer and even physically assaults Marfatia. Marfatia decides to take revenge for this humiliation. Meanwhile, Chikoo (Kriti Kharbanda), a surgeon from Surat, comes to Amritsar to study Ayurveda under Puran. Kala falls in love with her. Meanwhile, Marfatia slaps copyright case on Puran, alleging that he has the patent for ‘vajrakawacha’ and that Puran can’t use it in his clinic. Puran realizes that Marfatia has stolen the formula from him. Enter Jaywant Parmar (Dharmendra), Puran’s paying guest who has overstayed by years and pays a paltry Rs. 115 as monthly rent. Puran and Parmar don’t see eye-to-eye but when Puran gets into this legal tangle, Parmar, who’s an excellent lawyer, decides to help. What happens next forms the rest of the story..

Old timers Shatrughan Sinha, Rekha and Asrani whip up a little nostalgia, but the writing is just too flaky to allow them any fun. Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha show up too. Phir Se, no one cares..

The YPD franchise works because the masses still have a huge affection for Dharmendra and his sons. The Deols have taken note of the fact, however, that they can't just sail on the strength of the goodwill alone and have put across a broad comedy aimed at.

Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se is nothing but a yawn-fest. While it feels good to see the Deols reunite on-screen, the trio are let down by atrocious writing and a sloppy direction.

You do not need to subject yourself to its surfeit of action, comedy and melodrama unless you are an inveterate fan of the Deols, collectively or individually. What Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se offers purely as a cinematic outing isn't worth your time..

How you wish the film was too. The tired schtick of ‘dhai kilo ka haath’ becomes ‘paanch kilo’ when the dialogue shifts to Dharmendra. He plays a pesky tenant, always in the company of two ghostly women. Or should I say ghastly? The house is owned.

Overall, 'YPD 3' sure bears the hallmarks of a loud comedy, but loses much of its steam in the second half and culminates into a predictable climax. If you’re a diehard Deol fan, we’re sure you’ll find a reason to watch this film..

On the whole, YAMLA PAGLA DEEWANA PHIR SE is marketed as a comic caper but there are hardly any scenes that would make one laugh. Disappointing..
