But when ek Mohammedan ladki stoops down to perform the customary pranam before starting her Bharatnatyam performance, it ruffles feathers, making staunch flagbearers of 'kaum' and 'sabhyata' on both ends of the spectrum shift in their chairs. The Hindu girl reviewing this film grew up learning Kathak of Lucknow Gharana and never had her hands - or feet - tied up as she did the tatkaar.
