Satya is the story of an immigrant who comes to the city of Bombay to search for better prospects and ends up in the underbelly of Bombay's notorious underworld. Satya, played by JD Chakravarthy, finds himself at loggerheads with some unsavory characters and ends up in jail where he meets Bhiku Mhatre (Manoj Bajpai) who is a gangster. And so Satya joins Bhiku and his gang and the story is set in motion. Satya soon realises that power and greed go hand in hand and as the story unfolds, Satya finds himself caught in the downward spiral of the underworld. Vidya, played by Urmila Matondkar, is the love interest of Satya in the film. The film also has Saurabh Shukla who plays Kallu Mama and Paresh Rawal who plays the newly appointed police commisioner, Amodh Shukla. Satya is widely accepted as one of the most influential gangster movies made in the last few decades.
