Madhu (Madhusudan) has an inherited talent in music. His sister-in-law (maradalu) Mahita (Jyothi Krishna) encourages him and makes him a good musician and the entire village loves his music. He has become so popular and for anything, Madhu's music has a remedy. Noticing that he is getting spoiled in the name of music, Madhu's father sends him to the nearby city for studies. Madhu grows up along with his music interest and returns as a good violinist. He plans to become a music director. Mahita had a heartful of love towards Madhu and casually asks his what was love and he also replies in a very casual way. But his answer turns as one of the best and he becomes winner of a contest to which Mahita sends it. He gets a chance of spending three days with one film star (Poonam Singal). During his stay, he turns quite emotional and falls in love with her. The latter also responds positively. Meanwhile, Mahita's father broaches alliance with Madhu and his parents also agree to it. After his return, Madhu reveals this to Mahita and the latter decides to sacrifice her love as she believes that Madhu's happiness is her life. Mahita helps him to escape from the village before their marriage. But Madhu after reaching the city and staying for a day or two with the film star finds that she did not give any value for love, character and wanted to live a happy life and has no specific love towards him. So Madhu decided to return. At that time, he gets a letter from Mahita's father, which is part of her diary where she wrote that she enjoyed a complete day with Madhu, though not physically but had the feeling of his wife on that day. Learning this, Madhu realizes the real love. The film ends with the union of Mahita and Madhu.
