Shekar (Harinath) and Satyabhama (Jamuna) are classmates and love each other. Shekar is an orphan, studies with the help of Shambulingam (Relangi), who is repaying Shekar's father's debut. Shambulingam is puppet in his wife Kanakadurga's (G.Varalaxmi) hands. Kanakadurga agrees the marriage with difficulty.
