Life Partner is a comedy based on the institution of marriage. The film is about three close friends, each one having a different perspective about marriage. Govinda plays a divorce lawyer in the film who doesn't believe in marriage and is a Casanova of sorts. Fardeen Khan plays a character for whom being in love matters most and Genelia D'Souza plays his love interest. Tusshar Kapoor plays a Gujarati who believes in the system of arranged marriage and Prachi Desai plays his Gujarati wife.

The story is about friends, who struggle on the marital marathon, but on different tracks. Three friends, three different approaches to life is Life Partner in a nutshell. How do they manage to cope up with their life after marriage, and whether or not they succeed in their respective endeavors forms the crux of the plot of Life Partner.
